PEG linkers Used to Modify Immune System’s Response Against Gram-negative Pathogens


Lehigh University tested a new method to regulate the immune system to weaken Gram-negative pathogens, such as E. coli, by targeting the bacterial cell surfaces and recruiting more antibodies. PEG linkers were used to find the appropriate spacer in order for haptens to interact with antibodies, and they have found that as the length of a PEG spacer increases, antibody recruitment increases as well.
